Cat Lady

Some are named for children,
taken by the government.

Others, after the glittering stars
who litter her magazine carpet.

A patchwork blanket in settling frost
to warm her hibernation.

If you saw them that way – cats and their lady –
you’d never guess what they’d do to survive

through all the long weeks as mail piles,
high enough for someone to notice.

      • I keep hoping that myself! πŸ˜› Sorry I’ve been out of touch with the many things that make me happy – writing, reading your work and those of others who matter, and a ton of other stuff. I think I need what Calvin (and Hobbes) had… some kind of replicator. But then that wouldn’t be nice to everyone else, I guess.
Hope you are doing well – and way better than me!
