Thank you, Sarah. I think I’m starting to view the world through a set of senryu glasses! I hope you found your nook ๐

What children witness sometimes is heart-wrenching///how many of them find solace in doll houses, forts, beneath blankets, etc. This piece leave a pang in the heart for all those who have to experience this. Powerfully written, my friend!

The title is excellent. I love the name you chose, for like a blood red blossom, I can imagine the wounds in the mind and heart of the child. The dollhouse antithesis with what is happening in the house is very well detailed.
It is strange, for I have been listening to the song “My name is Luka” by Suzanne Vega for the past days.

You are very perceptive, Dajena – exactly why I chose Poppy. I love that song ๐

The funny story is that my son, also named Luke asked me to play it over and again this past week singing (thank GOD) only the first two lines. I think time not to let him listen to it anymore, afraid he will start asking questions. ๐

Hahaha, I have that exact same problem – you never quite realize how bad some lyrics are until you have to explain them to your children…or how violent most nursery rhymes are ๐
