Her cheeks awash with crimson
blush, green eyes gambol
in sunset glow. Betwixt wet lips,
a Mermaid’s kiss; her breathy,
soothing ebb and flow.
Blood orange tears
smear her eyes, emerald gems lap
untouched shores. Her song, the glide
and swoop of gulls, her laughter
the gentle sway of oars.
She smells of seduction and
secret spice, from ports steeped
in mystery. She holds me close,
a salty lover’s embrace,
as dusk dances over the sea.

Oh my Ryan! I was going to ask you to point out a poem before I went in my submarine, but Moana just found me! It is the voice of your soul made visible in word dancing with the thrum of love’s vibrant music, painting gorgeous images I will tuck in within me tonight.
enjoy the rest of #2

The ocean and the moon-is there any better combination? Glad you found this one before bed, I hope your dreams are sweet. Thank you for all your kindness 🙂

No better combination than the ocean and the moon indeed! Except maybe the sunset bleeding to make way for the moon.

Bloody hell!!
Oh boy, Ryan you are on fire! Churning out ‘mana’ after ‘mana’ 😉
Gotta read it once more to give you a review worthy of your creation.
P.S. Mana is a word found in Austronesian languages meaning “power, effectiveness, prestige,” where in most cases the power is understood to be supernatural.

Thank you, Manan. Very interesting – is Manan then a derivative of mana? I’ve reposted some older ones from when I first started on WP and had very few followers. I’m glad you’re enjoying them – they needed some love 🙂

No, it’s not. Manan is Sanskrit for contemplation. Thomas first gave me the Mana tag very cleverly and kindly because it sounds like a derivative. And yes, I’m enjoying your reposts. And I see you’ve posted some more. Will check now.

And now, here’s my (unsolicited) review:
After that initial ‘bloody hell’, the first thought that came to my head was “Gig in the sky”. It seemed to me like the ocean was dancing in glee at the awaited arrival of the moon and her ripples caused so much of a stir and desire that even the heavens could not help watch awestruck and get swayed in a trance-like dance. Absolutely stunning image there!
The poem part is then the icing on the cake. Oh how do I go about it? Each and every word you’ve penned is singularly beautiful and when all put together, create magic of the kind found in poetry by one of the masters himself. The flow, the fluidity, the adrenaline rush… all work so potently to leave a deep impression in the reader’s mind of a love that can only be imagined.
Last but not the least, I am now in two minds…if you are a better poet or a better painter. Ummm… you are a brilliant artist, I have concluded.

Wow – I’m speechless, Manan! What can I say after such a lovely review?! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The picture is of a lake I often run around with my dog. Beautiful, hey?!
I think you are being exceptionally kind with your praise but I am incredibly grateful for you friendship, support and beautiful words. It means the world 😀

I feel like a broken record in truth, but your work is outstanding, so I don’t mind being repetitive. 🙂
