Ryan, fantastic. Brilliantly written, using mythological references, making this Tanka so visually beautiful. Closing with “chasing the sun”, lovely! ~ Mia

I love the mythological threads woven in this poem! I hope her flight doesn’t turn deadly. Keep them from flying too close to the sun!

uh-oh, that was my feeling too. The freedom was a moment short-lived…at least she lived while she could. how many of us can say that? I am not sure I can.

Oooh, this is marvelous, Ryan! So, that’s where Labyrinth comes from, the myth? Poetry and education in one neat bite–I like it!!

This poem has a lot of elements that I enjoyed: mythology, tanka structure, imagery, figurative language… For a moment I thought I could hear the hoofs and then the flaps and the heat of sun.. between a rock and a hard place it seems to me, but yet nobody knows how to take someone to where they belong at the pace needed for them to get there without falling, without getting burned. Gorgeous!

A short-lived relationship can be sad or happy, depending on the intensity of the passion between lift-off and melt-down. A most clever Tanka, my friend. Love everything about this piece. There is a great lesson here!
