dawn pauses, explodes
in a flash of carmine fire
flaring in the east
flaring in the east,
Icarus ascends his throne –
blazing flight of one
blazing flight of one,
Labyrinth behind, no one
makes it out alone

Oh my! Dawn pauses.. then flares out in the east. How do you come up with such fantastic lines and images? I actually stopped for a moment and visualized it. Such a talented poet! And then no one makes it out alone..simply WOW!

Can I just keep it simple, Ryan, and second what Nandita said? π Super piece!

I closed my eyes, and saw the dawn’s petals bright with vivid crimson over that side of the sky, where time has passed. The wings of the future are as strong as the hand that mends the wax. Beautiful as always dear Ryan! π

Love this cascade–it plays with mythology and meteorology (the clouds being the labyrinth in my imagining). very awesome!

Great poem. I like the word ‘carmine’ describing the sky and how Icarus ascends with the “Labyrinth behind” an ominous statement as “no one makes it out alive.”

Well as long as you know I mean it, don’t need a lot of words to say it. π

It was an amazing sky-my photos don’t do it justice. Thank you for your lovely words, Carolina π

Oh you’re welcome and believe me, I know about those amazing skies, I came across several and my photos are pretty good but the magnificence of that moment it is only possible to perceive it through our eyes more than lenses! π

What a glorious burst of images! I loved that reference to Icarus and making it out of the labyrinth. Exquisitely done.

Is this a poem or a painting? Haha. You have painted a vivid picture here, Ryan. Bravo. Is this a take off of the ‘Loop’ poetry form?

Thank you, Staci. You’re lovely π
I wrote it as a cascading 5-7-5…but I guess it is pretty close to a loop, too π

Ohhhhh, hahaha. Yes, it’s pretty close to a loop poem. I guess I should have counted the syllables. Hehe.
Have a wonderful week Ryan.
