He accepts the coffee and smiles
his best I’m more than I seem smile
at ‘You’re Being Served By Eve’
who stares right past him, or maybe
right through him, at the queue
percolating out the door.
He’s loved her each lunch break,
in a year full of lunch breaks,
from his nobody place in line–
one more grey suit
in a nondescript forest
where he knows should he fall,
he will not make a sound.

Ryan, you never get it wrong and always have your finger on that delicate half-hidden pulse. This is as beautiful and emotional as ever β€

Lining up with mates, and seeing the pretty face smile at everyone, makes it a bit difficult to confess does it? And life is full of these unspoken feelings which we savor and keep inside.
Lovely to read you again dear Ryan.
P.S. So happy to read your name on the winner of the poetry contest at Goodreads. I get the updates in my emial inbox and I was so, so happy for you.:) YAY!!

A sad poem Ryan. I’m sure many people could relate to this, loving or liking a person who sees you as nothing more than a customer (or whatever depending on the place). She doesn’t see him, or notice, I wonder what would it take for him to make her see him as more?
